Don’t you ever say “never” again.
Even time isn’t endless.
Thoughts can change,
The years pass away;
In their wake
That “never” turns flippantly friendless.
And the future,
Created by you,
Is the past in the flash of an instant.
Can you catch it? –
Oh, but
That “never” – again
Bars the way, silly human offender.
So easy
To shatter your thought
Into “never” –
Forever.
Time is fleeting, wings on sandals…
Don’t you ever say “never” again.
